What is the best way to play? It depends on the mode!

Survival mode plops you into a randomly generated wilderness where your goal is to explore, gather resources, and remain alive. The Creative mode, which is free-form, is totally free of any need to worry about fighting spiders or mining for stones. You have unlimited resources and collaborate with other players to build massive structures. You can fly at will and overcome gravity!

There are also privately run Minecraft servers that create online worlds capable of hosting thousands of people at a time. Many of these are home to vibrant communities and action-packed mini-games such as protecting a castle against the threat of a dragon or fighting other players on a set of floating islands in the sky.
