The crafting table interface is available in Java Edition.

Crafting is the process of creating tools, items, and blocks in Minecraft. Players can craft by moving items from their inventory into a crafting grid and arranging them according to a recipe. A crafting table is able to access the 3×3 grid as well as a 2×2 crafting grid. You can also make items in the 2×2 grid in the crafting table.

    3×3 Crafting grid (crafting table)

Players who play Creative, [Bedrock Edition onlySurvival, Adventure, or Spectator[Java Edition only] have access to the 2×2 crafting grid from their inventory screen. There are a few crafting recipes that can be made that are less than 2×2. These include wooden planks, sticks, tables for crafting, torches, and even some shapeless recipes. You can craft items by using a 3×3 grid. To accomplish this, create a crafting board made of four planks of wood and place it in the world. Then you press the use button while facing it. The interface will open with a 3×3 crafting grid that the player can use to create any recipe for crafting within the game. You can also find all crafting recipes from the recipe book.

Certain recipes don’t require ingredients be put in a particular order on the crafting grid. These are often referred to as non-shapeless recipes. Players can create a fermented spider-eye by placing its ingredients anywhere on the grid. [note 1]

On the other the other hand, many recipes have to be prepared with ingredients in the correct relative positions on the grid of crafting. These are also known as shaped recipes. Shaped recipes allow ingredients to be’moved either up or down either left or right or both. They can also flip sideways. For example, a 3×1 recipe, such as bread, can be made using the top, middle, or bottom row of the 3×3 grid. However it cannot be made using the 2×2 grid because it must be three items wide, and bows can be created with the strings placed on the left instead of on the right.

There are recipes that may not be replicated or moved in this manner. These are known as fixed recipes. Banner recipes, for example, require that dyes be placed in a certain way to achieve the desired pattern. Only Bedrock Edition data packs and mods can be added to fixed recipes.

In contrast to other actions in the game such as smelting, brewing and the enchanting, crafting is totally silent. welcome to my blog

Shapeless recipes are marked on this wiki using a pair intertwined Arrows on the graphic of the crafting table. This symbol does not appear in the game. Recipe Book[]

To reduce space, certain recipes are animated (requires JavaScript). This wiki categorizes recipes that are not shapeless with a pair of intertwined, linked arrows on its crafting table graphic. Recipes that are fixed for crafting are marked with an exclamation point. These symbols are not used in the game.
